No doubting Lock-down has been a challenging time for almost all South Africans as We can travel again… Perhaps less so for government officials, seen attending funerals puffing cigarettes, and others who have been on full salary, but for most of us a very difficult time. No doubting Lock-down has been a challenging time for almost all South Africans as We can travel again… Perhaps less so for government officials, seen attending funerals puffing cigarettes, and others who have been on full salary, but for most of us a very difficult time.
The President’s announcement of easing restrictions to Level 2 from Monday midnight created much happiness across our troubled land.
A number of friends left this week for the flower miracles in Namaqualand. Of course, we are delighted that leisure travel is allowed again, along with inter-provincial travel, that we can get back to work, along with so many in the beleaguered hospitality and tourism sectors.
It is often said that we don’t miss the water until the well runs dry. The past 5 months have been incredibly tough on so many levels and We can travel again…
Way back in March when Lock-down was imminent, our mantra became “Don’t complain about the darkness if you haven’t lit a candle”. With that we entered into an online storytelling venture via Patreon (launched 8 April), which has been our primary source of income through Lock-down.
The ongoing support of friends, past clients and others is enormously appreciated. For September we have recorded some stories on travel and storytelling – both central to our existence.
By popular request, I am also including a story regarding the differences between the Arctic and the Antarctic. So many erroneously believe they are one and the same thing!
The transition to online presenting has not come easily, but I am working at it, and hope improving as the months roll by We can travel again….
Just as I would have laughed 20 years ago if anyone suggested I would one day be making a living out of storytelling, I would have laughed 6 months ago if anyone suggested I would be trying earn a living via online storytelling.
Life is a plethora of twists and turns and we need to seize the opportunities which come our way. By choice, or force of circumstance..
The very idea of being able to travel unhindered within our beloved country again is intoxicating. Road tripping is part of the psyche of so many South Africans, and the open road beckons seductively (windows down of course).
In the spirit of Ubuntu, as many have been gracious in their support of us over this very difficult time, I would strongly encourage those of you who are able to support small businesses around you in whatever way you can as We can travel again…. PLEASE.

How to Craft Powerful Stories that Can Drive Culture Change There is an old adage that says: If you want to learn about a culture, listen to the stories. If you want to change a culture, change the stories. I had a first-hand experience with this very early on in my career. The MD […]
Executives are often presented with important staffing decisions to support the ebb and flow of their business plan and to use Event Management Company vs. Internal Team. Live events, whether it be a sales meeting or incentive trip, a user conference, or product roadshow, are often the topic of debate when it comes to staffing. […]
10 Traits of a Great Teammate when I decided to start my business more than 10 years ago, I wasn’t entirely sure where it would take me. But I knew who I wanted to join me on the journey. Lynn Mandinec was my first friend at my first job out of college. We started our […]
An observation on kitchen size and what is the best. The house we live in is on the market and people are coming to view it. The kitchen is quite small and some potential buyers have commented on the size, with a sigh. When I thought about this I remembered how in our previous home, […]
What are the warning signs of an empty resilience tank? HOW TO KNOW WHEN IT’S TIME TO PAUSE In my experience, there are four primary indicators that tend to show up each time my resilience tank is running low. They don’t always show up in the same order but, without fail, they will show […]
Almost every industry today is undergoing a radical reimagining and a Transformation story about leadership. Yet simple catchphrases’ like ‘strategic pivot’ and ‘disruptive innovation’ do little leadership to encapsulate the complex challenges that organizations face in the accelerated world unleashed by the pandemic. The problem is particularly acute for technology companies. When decision-makers are inundated […]
Change Your Sleep, Change Your Life: Do you suffer from the inability to go to sleep? I have my entire life. I attend a lot of WHY EVENTS MUST ALWAYS HOST all over Australia as a professional speaker and I have noticed a trend of WHY EVENTS MUST ALWAYS HOST WELCOME TO COUNTRY. When events are hosted by government, they are always opened with a Welcome to Country from a local indigenous person. At the very […]
