Many people are already stagnating and using negative language, giving in to fear and talking about everything they cannot do in these times as well as how bad things are. I really believe that there is so much we can do and that this dreadful pandemic can actually have a silver lining if we have the right mindset.
Instead of falling into a state of despair, I started brain-storming of all the things I would love to do (as a business owner) but never seem to have the time to do and I thought I would share with you some things I have put onto my business to-do list now that I have free time. I thought some of these might inspire you or your staff –
I have spent some time doing some brainstorming with colleagues and business associates telephonically to help create a strategic action plan for my business
I have met with my staff to have a strategy meeting about the pandemic and will continue to communicate with them every few days online with some clear direction and some motivation
Doing some star-gazing, goal setting and I have adjusted some of the goals I had originally set
I have connected with old clients and people in my network that I haven’t had a chance to do this year and it has been rewarding
I have emailed my clients and my candidates to keep in touch with them and to ask them how I can help them
I have spring cleaned my offices
Working on building my online brand by upgrading my Linkedin profile, connecting with key individuals on Linkedin, by putting up daily posts on Linkedin, by connecting with top clients on Linkedin and by reading one relevant industry article per day on Linkedin
Remember that Action is the Antidote to Despair! Always have a plan but be flexible with the plan. Always show decisive action to your team. Be compassionate in hard times. Faith is the one thing that will overcome fear! Share positivity and hope.

With all the recent fervor over the confrontation between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars® over a comment made about Jada Pinkett Smith, there’s one character I have yet to see explored in the aftermath to change your perspective: G.I. Jane. Several years ago, when I was building my business as a […]
Growing threat of cybercrime? Not only to individuals but also to businesses of all shapes and sizes, across all sectors and industries. Howard Saunders, a leading retail keynote speaker was wrong. FORGET COVID. THIS IS THE KILLER VIRUS. I thought that the crescendo of hysteria that’s been festering like a planet sized boil in the wake of Trump and Brexit would dissipate once a serious crisis came along. It’s like we’d been massaging a giant zit with […]
How to Craft Powerful Stories that Can Drive Culture Change There is an old adage that says: If you want to learn about a culture, listen to the stories. If you want to change a culture, change the stories. I had a first-hand experience with this very early on in my career. The MD […]
Connection with someone takes more than common interests of What Makes People Click. It also takes this. Do you know who created the world’s first social network? It wasn’t Zuckerberg, Dorsey, or Tom from MySpace. It was the person who kindled the first fire. The fire’s loud crackling, billowing smoke, and beautiful orange glow attracted others […]

Leaders Mistake Hard Work to company growth, success or anything else. It may even lead to something on the other side of the spectrum, burnout or possibly even the end of a company or a career. Let me ask you something. Do you think companies (or careers) on the decline are working hard, or not? […]
In life, we get so much input. It is hard to keep up. One piece of advice that I got was to Focus on your skills and on my strengths. We are not meant to be great at everything, but we all have talent. At times we try to improve skills we don’t have a […]
