To wrap up the season I leave you with nuggets from my favorite and here’s a brief summary from me.
review leadership is not about the title you hold. It’s not a stamp of approval or a license to tell people what to do. You are always leading someone, at the very least yourself, so a good dose of self-awareness is necessary to create the presence and impact you desire.
It begins with you!
review leadership is also not just about keeping on doing the things you’re good at and staying in the safe zone. You’re always going to experience challenges, mistakes, and failures and that’s why it’s important to connect to purpose, people and know the impact you want to have in this world, beyond profit.
That’s what keeps you going through the tough times.
And finally, it’s the daily actions and habits you take that define your leadership style and keep moving you forward. Everything you do (and how you do it) sets you apart as a leader who’s confident, inspiring, and gets results.
This is the journey we took in this season of Leadership Live podcast. Enjoy the highlights I picked for you that helped us dive into the depths of self-awareness and review leadership. Hear about what you can do with the experiences and challenges you have in life.

The relentless pace and uncertainty of business today is taking a serious toll on all of us. Mental Health Leadership Priority might strive to be purpose-driven, impactful and innovative, but they are often hijacked by constant crisis management and the pressure to give everyone a voice. As if that’s not enough, add in the exhaustion […]
Do You Have Blinders On? | Confirmation Bias is a term we’ve heard a lot over the last few years as science has become a debate topic and you hear qualified experts providing completely opposite interpretations on the same topic. But what role does it play in your life if you aren’t doing studies and […]
I’m not going to pretend that this is easy stuff for Second Best, especially given all the uncertainty in the world. Over the course of the last three weeks, as corporate America has made the transition from meetings in conference rooms and common spaces to Zoom calls and other online sessions, I’m struck by the […]
I once met this old man, whilst traveling. I guess as a tourist, anything goes. Owning your presence … by Lizette Volkwyn His coat was tacky, his hair in desperate need of grooming, and his age betrayed by his body…but something pulled me back, calling me to start a conversation with this stranger. […]
I think we often need a reminder of our home and our Earth Day. We have a 24-hour day based on the rotation of our planet relative to the sun. But it is much more personal than that. The day is also based on our daily perspectives and ways of viewing the day. The world […]
As a keynote speaker on the topics of leadership, connection, resilience, and relationships, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about Choose Compassion Over Empathy over the past year and Why Leaders Must Choose Compassion Over Empathy. In fact, in my virtual presentations on personal connection, I quickly became aware of the buzzwords associated […]
Over the last year as You Want to Be an Authentic Leader, you’ve worn countless sweatshirts on Zoom calls, taken meetings while walking, and even brought Fido, your adorable Shih Tzu, into a few calls. Well done. However, and I hate to break it to you, that doesn’t necessarily make you an “authentic leader”. The […]
Go ahead and search ‘happy employees lead to successful companies’ and you will be bombarded with consistent uplifting messages about employees and happiness (LinkedIn, Fast Company, Business Insider, Fortune). Just about every content piece promotes employee happiness benefiting organizations at large. That is why, contrary to consistent media, I couldn’t believe that Phil Rosenzweig in The Halo Effect completely disagreed. With […]
