Imagine this scenario:
You are considered THE BEST in the world at your chosen profession – according to critics, peers, well known in the public – and suddenly you MUST change your career.
Does this thought excite you, or terrify you?
If it is YOUR choice, then it’s a great thing!
If it’s doctor’s orders due to the damage you are inflicting on yourself, or due to a pandemic which demands it, then yes, that is terrifying.
I was in the same situation a few years ago because of my health.
This was a significant, and to some, a surprising, part of my book, “The Promise To The One”.
Very few people cheered me on, or even came along with me while I transitioned to a new place in my life and career, as they sat on the sideline and wondered if I’d lost my mind.
Truth is, it was crazy, looked crazy, sounded crazy, but it was necessary to my survival and happiness.
Years later I can look back and laugh about it now, but it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
Luckily, I knew, back then, just as I know now, that it was and is my Calling.
What is your Calling?
How do you know you’re LIVING your Calling?
Are you willing to jump out of the airplane?
It comes down to your Promises and willingness to live them, despite the uncertainty ahead.
I hope you enjoy this video discussion with leadership expert, Heidi Totten, as we discuss what this was like for me.
In turn, this is intended to help you feel courage and power to Keep The Promise for yourself and go for it, wherever your Calling may take you!

Brands don’t have values or Employee Motivation. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pull the rug out from under you so quickly, but it needed to be said. Before you close this article thinking “that’s absolute rubbish”, just wait a moment. Dust yourself off. Sit back down, have some coffee. Ready? Brands do not have […]
If we are going to do new things to survive in the Industrial Age, we are going to meet uncertainty. If we are going to meet uncertainty, we are going to discover risk. A show of hands… How many people, when you were 12, 13, 14 years of age, had a mother or a father […]
IT’S A NORMAL DAY ON ALIWAL SHOAL. ABOVE TWENTY DEGREES CELSIUS, BLUE WATER WITH SMALL PARTICLES, A LITTLE BIT OF A CURRENT PUSHING, WE DRIFT ALONG WITH IT, WAITING FOR THE SHARKS… (THIS IS THE STORY OF MY FIRST EVER FREEDIVE WITH SHARKS) It’s a clear blue sky, warm air and a slight breeze- […]
As a keynote speaker on the topics of leadership, connection, resilience, and relationships, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about Choose Compassion Over Empathy over the past year and Why Leaders Must Choose Compassion Over Empathy. In fact, in my virtual presentations on personal connection, I quickly became aware of the buzzwords associated […]
A study of 70 top European Organisations shows that that the 10th reason they Choose One Pitch Over Another is the paper proposal. That’s not to say the paper proposal is not important but most people are neglecting the #1 reason. I share it at the biggest sales conference in Europe. “I’m not sure our […]
One of the attractions of Work-At-Home schedule is the vision of freedom it invokes — no time clock, no time sheets, and no one to account for how you spend your time. Yes, it is an attractive proposition, but like so many attractive propositions there is a heavy downside — you are likely wasting a […]
If you’ve ever seen expectant parents in a baby shop, you’d know that pregnancy is a life stage that usually triggers an avalanche of consumerism and to find Pink Sheets. I (thankfully) never tallied what I spent during my pregnancy, I just know that becoming a mum, while filling my heart, has drained my […]
Until someone creates a way to accurately predict the future and Beyond Disruption, there is no way to prepare your business for every change that will come its way and beyond disruption. Whether it is a pandemic that changes the economic outlook, societal trends that change consumption patterns, or machinery or infrastructure that breaks down, […]
