We’ve recently been on an investment drive to raise massive capital for our product, Lohocla and the number we are gunning for is rather massive relative to what we were thinking years ago and as such we Earn Your Stripes,
The funny thing is that the people we are contacting today are the very same people we were in contact with 3 or 4 years ago when we got all the no’s.
I couldn’t understand back then why everyone was saying no because I knew we had a good product, but the truth of the matter is that we needed to Earn Your Stripes yet and hadn’t accrued half the amount of traction we have accrued today.
It really comes down to filling your place, being able to outgrow where you are while you are looking at where you’re trying go.
Most people get frustrated by things happening slow or not happening, but what I’ve learnt is that there is no substitute for process, what you want to do will take as long as it requires and no more or less than that.
Your task is to do all that you can with what you can and win with that.
You must learn to do great things in a small place, so you can be promoted to do great things in a great place.
Now that I know what I know, I can definitely demand the numbers we are demanding because we are looking to solidify South Africa and enter global markets, and this is because we have earned our stripes, and this is what I want to leave you with today.
Nobody is going to invest in your idea until you can prove that you’ve put all that you can into your idea and they can see the benefit for themselves. It will always be a transaction of giving and receiving.
Earn your stripes. Don’t be a gimmick.
“Motivation determines what you do, ability determines what you’re capable of doing; attitude determines how well you do it. Your attitude determines your altitude.”

During my tenure as a vice president of human resources for a credit union in Maryland, I worked with how to manage a high performing employee and with two human resources generalists on my team. Both were good at their jobs; they each had completed training and certifications in HR. Yet one was exceptional—she had […]
An interesting story of the emergence of Ferrero and Lessons Leading to Success, the famous world company with a turnover of more than 10 billion dollars, producing popular sweets and famous chocolate eggs with funny toys inside. It all started shortly after the end of World War II in a small provincial Italian town. Michele Ferrero […]
Problems, obstacles or roadblocks of some kind inevitably pop up on the way to our goals. I was recently reminded of a story about a dog and rabbit that exemplifies that oftentimes, problems may not be exactly what they seem to be on the surface. It takes courage to look deeper, even though it might […]
Connection with someone takes more than common interests of What Makes People Click. It also takes this. Do you know who created the world’s first social network? It wasn’t Zuckerberg, Dorsey, or Tom from MySpace. It was the person who kindled the first fire. The fire’s loud crackling, billowing smoke, and beautiful orange glow attracted others […]
Generosity is an interesting beast so WHY SO STINGY. As a charity CEO, I have seen it expressed in many different ways. The best kind of generosity comes with warmth and good old NSA – no strings attached. This kind of generosity is glorious to witness and is the backbone of charity work all over […]
I once saw a cartoon meme that really caught my attention. A Father was chatting to his son. He was explaining the difference between being interested in success at school versus being committed to success at school. So Are You a Chicken, or a Pig? “Take your breakfast as an example, my boy,” the Father […]
Be prepared for Remote Selling – How to Become A Technical Set Up Boss As any Boy Scout (or Girl Guide for that matter) knows, you should always be prepared – in fact that is the global motto for the Boy Scouts and one that I feel should be adopted by all business professionals as […]
