PETER VAN KETS – is a South African professional endurance adventurer, speaker and bestselling author. As an inspirational speaker he shares the hard lessons he’s learnt during his expeditions through a series of powerful keynotes as well as team and leadership interventions. These are all immersive, emotive and compelling presentations backed up with gripping visuals.
He has spoken at over 1000 conferences globally and has worked with leadership teams of organisations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, China and the USA.
Peter has authored two best-selling books. The first in 2014, “The Eighth Summit”. The core theme of which is ‘mind-over-matter’ and what we can do to overcome seemingly impossible challenges.
The second book, ”Grin & Bear It”, was published in August 2022. The core themes of this book are the building blocks and key foundations of passion, endurance and resilience, the most significant predictors in a persons or organisations ability to achieve and sustain success. Adventure Accomplishments
As one of the world’s top endurance adventurers, amongst many others, he has rowed 5500km across the Atlantic twice and trekked 900km unsupported to the South Pole.
Peter van Kets has taken part in an epic dog sled expedition at the North Pole and has joined forces with photographer, Jacques Marais to complete 5 Beyond Expeditions focussing on southern and central Africa.
Peter has a great affinity with the planets oceans and seas having spent most of his life either in, on or near the sea. His two rows across the Atlantic and the experiences he has had have made him passionate about the conservation of our oceans.
Peter van Kets – Adventurer motto is DOT. Do-one-thing! He understands that on his own he can have little impact on the total conservation of our seas, but collectively , if we could each just do-one-thing we could have a dramatic effect and save our oceans.

RESOLVE, takes a new look at how to foster passion, then harness that passion to create discipline and to construct a process, which will drive passion and discipline towards significant success.
We conduct both our professional (and personal) lives in a turbulent, dynamic, fiercely competitive and often harsh world. And so, starting a business, meeting an insane sales target, turning a floundering venture around, these are all challenges that are infinitely comparable to trekking to a Pole or rowing an ocean.
The Business world is the new frontier, it is a place of extraordinary adventure, presenting an arena for uniquely challenging expeditions every day. For the past decade of my life I have taken part in and led many expeditions to some of the most remote desolate and beautiful parts of the planet, and the lessons I have learned are astonishingly transferable to the world of business/sales/marketing/finance etc etc.
Vision, passion, grit, calculated risk taking, survival, collaboration, discipline, leadership, precise planning are as important in the boardroom as they are in the wilderness….although of course an error in the boardroom may not result in your death.
Of all of the attributes I have mentioned, resolve/vasbyt/Nyamezela is the one quality most likely to guarantee success. However, resolve isn’t created in a vacuum, it cannot and does not stand alone. It grows out of PASSION.
