Eva Longoria is a passionate philanthropist and activist for expanding opportunities for Latinos, raising awareness of ovarian cancer, and protecting the welfare of children.
Longoria is an executive producer of the popular dramedy Devious Maids, a program developed by her company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment. Meanwhile, she is a successful restaurateur, an author of the best-selling cookbook Eva’s Kitchen, and will have be debuting her own fashion line in the autumn of 2016.
But even with all these accomplishments, Eva Longoria considers activism and philanthropy her real focus. Among numerous other ventures, she has executive produced two documentaries, The Harvest and Food Chains, exposing the plight of child farm workers.
She is currently executive producing the documentary , which explores the power of the Latino vote and the underserved community of 23 million Latinos who are legally in the U.S. and have the power to vote.
She has received two Screen Actors Guild Awards and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Longoria promotes humanitarian causes and was named Philanthropist of the year.
Eva Longoria is known for her roles as Isabella Braña on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless from 2001 to 2003, and as Gabrielle Solis on the ABC television series Desperate Housewives. For her work on Desperate Housewives, she received a Golden Globe Award nomination. She has also starred in films such as Harsh Times (2005), The Sentinel (2006), and Over Her Dead Body (2008).
In 2006, Longoria founded Eva’s Heroes, a charity which helps developmentally disabled children. She is the national spokesperson for PADRES Contra El Cancer. Longoria also supports the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation, OmniPeace, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the National Stroke Association, Project HOME and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Eva Longoria is an executive producer of Shine Global Inc.’s documentary, The Harvest (documentary) which is focused on the 500,000 child migrant farm workers in the U.S. and promotes awareness and support to enact the Children’s Act for Responsible Employment (CARE Act).
Longoria was named Philanthropist of the year by The Hollywood Reporter for “her commitment to Latino causes and giving back to the community.”
