For astronaut Ron Garan, living on the International Space Station was transformative and listen to stories through The Orbital Perspective Podcast. If fifteen nations (some of them former enemies) can work together to create and run the most complex structure ever built in space, why can’t we work together to solve our problems on earth?
Ron shows how we can all gain this “orbital perspective” to guide and inspire our efforts to build a better world.
Former NASA astronaut and highly decorated combat fighter Ron Garan racked up 178 days in space and more than 71 million miles in 2,842 orbits during tours on the International Space Station after launching to space aboard the US Space Shuttle and Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
Prior to those journeys, he lived and conducted research on the bottom of the ocean in the world’s only undersea research lab, Aquarius. Before reaching the summit of his career, Ron, a former test pilot and graduate of the US Naval Test Pilot School, taught hundreds of aspiring pilots how to “up their game” at the prestigious USAF Fighter Weapons School, the Air Force version of Top Gun.
Today, Ron is celebrated for his research in space and for his humanitarian contribution to life on Earth and The Orbital Perspective Podcast.
Ron has been a member of several high-performing teams in combat, during high-risk test flights, and in dealing with life-or-death aircraft emergencies—which have forged a process to turn stress into performance.
