Jabulani Tsambo is a musical phenomenon, with various SAMA Awards including ‘Best Male Artist’, ‘Best Hip Hop Artist’ and ‘Best Rap Album’ as well as having shared the stage with top international artists such as Jamie Cullum, Angelique Kidjo and Snoop Dogg.
A rapper to be reckoned with, he performs in Setswana, isiZulu, Sesotho, English and other local languages and he is definitely an ambassador for the colourful linguistic diversity of South Africa, an aptitude which was recognized by the Pan-South African Language Board and he was presented with the ‘Multi-Linguicism’ Award in 2008.
Jabulani’s music-related accolades (which have spanned over the years) are as varied as the languages in which he performs which includes ‘Best Record Label’ (Botswana Hip Hop Music Award 2004), ‘Best Male Artist’ (Kellogs’ Star-In-You Kids Awards 2006), the People’s Choice, Best Music Star (Maftown Golden Awards 2007), the Mzansi Music Star Award (Stars of Mzansi Awards 2008),
His nominations include ‘Most Promising Act In Africa’ (KORA 2000), ‘Best Male Artist’, ‘Best Rap Artist’ and ‘Best Director’ (Channel O Awards 2007) as well as ‘Best African Act’ (MTV Europe Music Awards 2007).
Besides the countless TV interviews and the live broadcast performances, Hip Hop Pantsula has made many other diverse television appearances.
He won the third season of the reality dance show, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2007 and in 2008, he starred in 11 episodes of the long-running hit musical soap opera, ‘Rhythm City’.
He has also been a judge on the 2010 and 2011 panels for Idols.
With numerous successful albums, he is always pushing the boundaries of his genre.
