While Mandalay opened in 1999, it was built on the site of the former Hacienda Hotel and Casino, which started welcoming guests back in 1956.

The Hacienda was the second property in the Spanish-themed motel chain and boasted the Strip’s most glorious pool at the time. The hotel even had its own fleet of charter planes that brought gamblers in from all over the country.
